Oil Level for Canted Over Engine
The Duratec in my J15 is canted over somewhat. I'm not concerned about it running at this angle as lots of car manufacturers do this but the
thing that concerns me is what oil level should I aim for?
If I get the level right when its upright (jacking up one end of the car) then its way off when canted again.
I'm guessing that I should get it correct on the dipstick as this is close to the oil pickup and thats whats most important?
Also do I do the same for gearbox oil? e.g. fill until it comes out of filler in its canted over position?
Any ideas or experience around this greatfully received.

Probably depends if the sump / pick-up has been modified to allow for the cant over. How far over is it out of interest?
Do you know where the pick-up is? If it's canted towards it then can't see it been an issue and just aim for max. If it's canted
away then you may need to overfill slightly I guess.

drain the oil, then fill using a measuring jug with the correct amount. dip the oil and mark the dipstick with a punch or hacksaw with the new level.
if the engine is over more than a few degrees then i would be concerned about pickup and oil flow around the engine and head

Is the engine over as it was in the donor?? That is, is the sump standard and level?

Duratec is normally fitted level, takes 4.3lts.
Duratec Engine is fitted, MS2 Extra V3 is assembled and tested, engine running, car now built. IVA passed 26/02/2016

Dry sump it that should fix it.... :-) :-). But don't tell the Mrs how much the kit cost!

Its only about 5 or 10 degrees TBH.
It wasnt canted over in the donor (Fiesta ST150).
The oil pickup appears to be pretty central in the sump which I guess is good.
Dry sump is a bit out of my budget! 
Filling with the correct amount and marking the dipstick is they way ahead! Cheers all!
