one happy chappy

hi all
after my last post in may of this year regarding the x flow engine the saga as now come to a end. I took the engine to a more reliable engine specialist . I am not going to go into details of what they sorted out (it would take a week to write)for people that are in the Yorkshire/Lincolnshire area( take a look at there website) Genesis Engines ltd they have done a very good service and rebuild for me they could not have been more helpful with all the problems they found. I even had a tour of there workshop and even got a look at some of the projects they have ongoing at the moment (some very serious jobs are been done ) all I need now is to have the bike carbs setup . so if anybody knows of somewhere in my area that can do a bike carb tune up pls could you let me know . regards ian

Is your car on the road now Ian? Mine should be in for MOT next week only a year later than I had hoped . The prop I got from you fitted fine.

And me third, as a xflow is the most basic engine going, and there really isn't much you can do wrong,

Ive built numerous xflows, from new parts and old parts, and only one in al the years ive done, has failed due to something I did wrong, I broke the piston rings putting the pistons into the block, and didn't realise until on the road and LOTS of smoke!

Thats was probably spelt wrong, or had some grammer, that the "grammer police have to have a moan at

test drive

hi all
just been out in the car for the second time with the x flow after the second rebuild and all is well held water temp ok and oil presure was good . the engine sounds nice . it was only a short run due to raine and not sure as the airfilters that are open i have had to cut out the bonnet for it to shut. as the engine is sitting a little hight in the chassis but gives me a good clerence for the sump so on need to alter . getting back to the details you all whant to know (lol) well here you are. my car had a fire blade engine to whitch i put in 10 years ago but due to medical reason i had to take it out. ( reverse box bloody useless) did more harm than good .so got a x flow engine I know it needed re-bore so took it to a local so called specalist to have the engine re-bored and the crank re-ground and any other parts that needed replacing 3 months later i got my engine back . in may of this year got it all put back in and whent out for first run only to get 6 miles out of town then had to head go home in total 12 miles did the engine last . took it back out and found more white metal in bottom of sump than a scrapyard has. so looked for an other engine spesalist ( at this point i was ready to scrap the lot) but caraded on to whitch i fond Genesis engines ltd and took the engine to them i ask for them to cheack out first and this is what they found so here you are....this is there first report...cylinder bores not finished honed after re-bore-no cross hatch finish ,piston rings not bedded +rong gap size . crankshaft bent 0.012m on main journals not been done.no 3 big end knocked out 0.017m all bearing housings excessive damaged cylinder head cracked in 3 places ... timing chaine cam followers all different sizes this engine as been put together with other parts .. i have now had it all sorted by them and it now runs fine .. so here you all are one guy that dose not know what we are all playing with ( at least i am trying) so take the micky if you all like regards ian. ps dont mean any offenc i can stand it lol

What are you talking about taking the mickey?? 6!

Whether you take a car to your local garage for a service or engine to a specialist, chances are you won't be there watching what they do and trust that they will do what they charge you for and do it correctly. With an engine it may be best to get the machining to be done and assemble yourself.

You have enigeers report. Write back the original garage regarding money back, mention small claims court and follow it through. It'll cost you little but you should get your money back from the cowboys... What they did is disgraceful.
