Fold out bench ideas

Good afternoon

Has anyone tried making a useful fold out work bench, capable of taking any kind of decent weight?

I saw these at Screwfix and thought they looked pretty useful:

Not used them, but they look OK.

What/where is it you have in mind?

Having a single garage and longish car with a rear wing sticking out the back, I want to maximise space.

The wing is removable but it's a bit of a faff and having a fold down bench would be ideal if I needed to quickly make some space. Was also contemplating having one at the back and one either side of the door for a bit of flexibility if they work well.

I also want to be able to put heavy bits and peices on it/them when in use, but nothing over 130kg (a whole pinto engine).

I would have thought that these are stronger than the wall they are mounted to...

They just look a bit flimsey, but say rated 200kg each.

The foldable workbenches I've seen actually fold up rather than down, and have a couple of hanging legs on the front. The legs would transfer the weight to the floor, so the hinge fixing would only be in downward load instead of being pulled away from the wall as in that solution.

I'd also expect the entire shelf with a basic hinge and two legs to still be cheaper than those hinges...

Have a read of this guy's garage build thread, he has a few folding benches.

One of my all time favourite garage threads!

That is pretty damned cool

ETA...I'm really taken with the tiled floor as well. You might need a foam pad to kneel on, but tiles are easy to sweep/hoover.

I particularly like the folding bench with tool storage behind - very nifty!
