Cam cover painting

Been painting the cam cover today used the water technique to do the black lettering, turned out well I think!

Not wishing to sound ignorant, but what is the water technique?

Thanks in advance.

Why do it the easy way, when I can do things my way!

I was wondering the same.

I assume it's filling the recessed lettering with water before spraying?

Yes that's correct, spray with primer the whole cover, then spray letter colour over the whole cover, then fill letters with water, then a white base coat or primer again, then your final colour to finish, remove the water and you have the desired finish

I used a different modus operandi with raised lettering. Spray the lot then machine the tops off the letters. Carefully, very carefully!

More photos of cam covers please.
