Lost idle...

I’ve just been out to the tiger to go for a drive and I seem to of lost idle, everything was ok yesterday when I pulled it out the garage, but today, nothing.

I have fuel in the rail and returning to the tank, the MAP hasn’t changed, and TPS seems to be ok. Crank signal is ok and battery level is 13v.

Any ideas?

The car starts, just, tries to run then dies. If I keep the throttle on it’ll rev and run, although lumpy. when i let off it dies instantly. Before IVA i had a similar issue that turned out to be dodgy spark plugs. I’ll grab a new set tomorrow and swap them over and hopefully that’ll be it.

Idle screw fallen out?

Air leak? Connector come off. Start with the simple thing's before pulling it apart.

Is it just the idle you've lost or are you saying it wont run?

I had the issue where the car would start and idle I could drive a short distance and then it would die, thought it was my fuel pump dying but turned out to be the fuel pump rely, I didn't have the diode protected version and after a short while would die and kill the pump feed. Worked fine on the drive way but when driven would die.

It starts with a blip of throttle the dies instantly, if i hold the throttle it runs but roughly. it’s been running rich lately and have swapped the map to adaptive to trim some fuel out of it and thats been running fine. The plugs are looking very burnt black and wet.
I’ve checked the gaps and dried them off and I have managed to get it to where it’ll rough idle at around 600rpm, I’ve trimmed a bit of fuel from the map site and the idle has risen to 800rpm and smoothed of a little but i didn’t get any further as I had work. I’ll have another look in the morning.

I just had the exact same problem with mine,I got it out of the garage after over 4 years of not touching it and it was running rough and all the plugs were wet and black.I suspected the injectors were blocked as the fuel was old and smelt really off and so stripped themout and back flushed them with thinners and compressed air.I then checked the spray and they were all good but when i put them back the car ran worse and the exhaust was cold on cylinders 1 and 2 ,when i removed the plugs and checked for a spark there was nothing, but when i moved the plug body away from the block there was a strong spark berween the plug and block and so i decided the plugs had an internal short.Fittedsome new plugs and it now runs ok and is back on the road.
Paul.
