Aluminium suppier

Can anyone advise on the best place to get hold of sheet aluminium for panelling my Indy, hopefully someone who delivers and what the best thickness to use is. And some idea on how much I should be paying for a 8x4 sheet.

7 out of 10 people suffer with hemorrhoids. Does that mean the other 3 enjoy them?

I was quoted for a 2m x 1.2m x 1.2mm (18swg) at £38 per sheet, however he happened to have some with slight water damage on 1 side so I paid £20 + VAT per sheet.
He delivered 4 sheets + some other steel for £10.
This particular guy is in Reading so not much good to you.

I paid about 40 - 45 quid a sheet of 2mm thick in 2.4 x 1.2m in Northampton.

Best thing to do is to ring a local supplier and ask for

a sheet of 2.4 x 1.2mm x (1.2, 1.6, 2.0 - your choice) alu of grade 3003 'half hard'

Im not a 'metal person', but there are loadsa grades of alu - some dont bend very well as david jenkins found on his rear panel. 3003 is good.

Stockholders dont bite - I felt a bit strange as a member of the public ringing Corus for a few lengths of steel RHS - they will deliver to your home, but migh have a min order of 30 quid or something.

Dont speculate - pick up the phone and ask someone local!

Round my way it seems that steel stockholders dont sell alu, and vice versa.

I bought 3 sheets of 2mx1m x1.2mm soft general purpose ally from a local sheet metal work company for 14£ a sheet. It is only soft but i did not have to anneal at all to form around the rear panel , it also formed the bonnet very easily.
I got to lengths of 1.5 cut for the side panels for £10.

It was from Humphreys on the telford way industrial estate, they didnt have it in stock and bought it in for me but must have still made a profit. It was a handy size as it just fitted in the back of my car so I didnt have to pay carraige, and altough i had a bit of waste due to the cutting sizes still worked out good value and the offcuts are handy.
