Had a similar problem with Mothin in Laws a few weeks ago, I switched everything off back to the isolator switch, checked the condensate drain, system pressure, then powered it back up, and it fired up.

this from the manual

Burner lights then goes out in DHW or CH mode
Does the boiler run normally with the front cover off and
then fail when the cover is put back on?
If yes there is likely to be a flue problem - either the air inlet is blocked or the
inner flue is leaking flue gases into the air inlet.

How mad, I've literally just come back from a friends with exactly the same problem on a 28i.
Fan and pump both running but no spark.
It was the overheat protection circuit that had tripped, the reset button is on top of the boiler at the front left hand side.
Isolated the power supply, pressed the reset button, power back on and all worked again.

many thanks for that, the only reset i can find is a button on the front panel the manual shows 2 over heat sensors in the area you mention but no reset.

have noticed that the pressure is starting to fluctuate a fare amount.

Probably worth investing in having it serviced then if it hasn't been for a few years and your starting to have a few problems.
If the pressure is fluctuating a little as the pump comes on and off and a lot between cold and hot it's likely that the expansion needs re-charging.

the main pump is not working correctly and is getting extremely hot so switching it all off again, so have switched it off at the mains and called the insurance, did not want to pay £50 excess for a fuse or press a button.

It might just be worth swapping the pump out if you suspect it. Drain the system down and it shouldn't take you more than an hour with basic plumbing tools, they are not terribly expensive.
Although pumps can last for years the question isn't IF a pump will go wrong, it's WHEN.
