Attaching body panels

Hi All,

I'm thinking about how to attach the minimal body panels for my atom style midi (see archive or website for details!).

I plan to make one off panels over foam to clad the main chassis upper rails, which are 50x50 16g box section. I am thinking of moulding a small recess into the upper section of the panel, and then mounting the panel through this, using a rivnut set into the upper rail - hopefully the images attached will illustrate what I mean!

Will the rivets act as a stress raiser and cause problems, and any other thoughts on the best way to do this?

Thanks all

JC

Tack weld a bolt to the top rail and use a dome nut that way you will not have to drill the rail
This is just my idea
