Haynes roadster wheel size

Hi Guys,

Looking at cycle wing options for my Haynes build and there are two options. 15" which I guess is the standard build option and 17".
What issues are there in fitting the 15" or 17" wheels.
Speedo I will calibrate so not fussed about that.

Cheers!!!

The few posts I've seen about 17 inch wheels is that they don't suit a roadster, either in looks or performance. There's a few comments about 17 with the required low profile tyres being overly harsh for such a lightweight car. Other posts suggest tyre fitment in 17 is much reduced (not sure whether this is referring to sticky rubber or standard road tyres). That's also one or two comments that they look like cart or wagon wheels on a seven, but I'm not here to judge!

On the other hand, 15's limit the braking options, but is that an issue on a car that usually weights about half of the average tin top?

Hi ya,

I was thinking of sticking to the 15" with the standard front and rear disc brakes. The brakes should be more than enough!.

When I started I wanted 17 for looks.
The more I read, the more I learn.
At the moment I wish I had kept my 15" Original fittment size.
Less weight, cheaper tires, more options, What´s not to like??
HTH..

I have 13" steelies on mine. They are much more comfortable than the 15s I had before as they absorb more of the bumps.
