For the air filter box try scrapers/Ford/aftermarket aircleaners.

Tuning wise you could fit efi or talk to burton who allways did know what tweaks worked on what Ford Engines. However I think that you will find that there is not a lot for that engine.

If you do find anything first make sure that you have a good head (they a known for cracking between the valves on No2 and/or No3 cylinders).

When you refit head from inspection (if sound) Always fit a new timing chain (Genuine Ford, the links are marked for timing) as these are know to be weak after High milage & should be changed between 80 & 100K.

After that its usual practice of cams and lightening/balancing ( p.s. the flywheel on these is very heavy !)

personally I would be more tempted to dig a 2.0 Zetec out of a Mondeo (More bits available & you get 16V instead of 8V)

The RS200 ran with a Cosworth 1800 BDT in std form. This bears abbsolutely no resemblance to a DOHC whatsoever (although it can trace its origins back to a X Flow - just).

Did you mean RS2000 (Mk5)? That used a 16v variation of the DOHC motor and gave 150 bhp in std form. Was a pretty good motor and went out to 2.3 in the Scorpio.

By the way, concerning using an EFi system on a carb DOHC, you will have some problems to overcome as the heads are different.

About 10 yrs ago "CCC" mag tried to tune a DOHC motor and really struggled to get much out of it even with modified cams. I seem to recall that they got it up to about 140 bhp but it took quite a bit of effort.

I didn't see the RS200 replica on Top Gear. If it didn't use the BDT engine then it could have been the Cosworth YB Sierra/Escort unit as this is often used in these cars - same unit as Hicost uses.

The 2.0 Zetec is reasonably tuneable, not as good as the YB or 16v Vauxhall but in moderate state of tune - cams and forty fives is OK for about 180 bhp. Remember that most horsepower claims that you read here and elswhere are exagerated!
