This is mine close to finished, diff problem at airfield shake down put paid to IVA for now. Diff currently being repaired and upgraded, meanwhile I'm finishing off the last few jobs for IVA in spring. Dave and I have just fitted a new 14mm clutch master cylinder to sort out the snatching and I'll be picking up my diffuser from MNR at the AutoSport show.

daniel mason - 20/12/10 at 05:59 PM

^^^ it certainly is!

expatkiwi - 21/12/10 at 06:23 AM

Slightly off topic then.
Who has one
How did/is the build going
I am going to the autosport show and will be going to the MNR stand (and no disrespect to MNR) I want to know from those who have one what they are like(Feel free to U2U)
I quite fancy one(if I can afford it)

Cheers
Brian

expatkiwi - 21/12/10 at 04:31 PM

Cheers for your U2Us guys.
Sorry I should have been more specific (as usual I am in a rush)
How about the LMP version?

Cheers again
Brian

Gergely - 11/1/11 at 12:45 PM

Here is ours in sunny Hungary. 2005 R1 engine. It's currently with MNR to sort out a drivetrain vibration we couldn't solve. Hopefully back for the spring with us!
Took us about 45 days to build, but that included an engine change, another engine re-work and various upgrades (oil cooler, new instruments, Flatshifter, etc. - about 30 days for the base build)

Completed - almost...

Have to say that the VortX is one of the prettier kits (except from the climbing frame sized roll-bar... which I appreciate is like that for a reason! ).

Now back on the road after a new engine build. Just needs mapping properly for a nice and healthy 200bhp.

daniel mason - 21/11/11 at 10:30 PM

My roll cage ain't tall at all

daniel mason - 21/11/11 at 10:34 PM

And Mnr build them to
what ever size the customer wants. They are not all identical and all based on customer choice

big_l - 21/11/11 at 11:08 PM

Mnr defo have the best looking roll cage although some are quiet large but a taller roll cage does offer better prospects when it comes to selling on time

Loving the way you've used the original instrument cluster.
How did you fix it to the rear of the dash panel?

Another question - how did you manage to get an '11' plate?

Cheers

The clocks took a fair few hours with a dremmel smoothing down the original shroud, so the dial surrounds remain. A frame out of ply surrounds the whole assembly using the original mounting points for the dials (plastic flanges) Then a piece of Perspex sits into the ply covering the dial faces, then bonded into place behind the dash. Easy if you say it quick enough. The dial faces were off eBay for about £25. I messed up with the temp gauge though. Always over reads so cannot be trusted. I've left it where it is because silkaflex is a bugger to get out. Simply mounted a Stack gauge to the roll cage on a separate temperature sender.
The '11' plate was a gift from Preston DVLA. Given to me on the day too, without any inspection. Took me by surprise really, but didn't complain.

Cheers

Lee

The Venom Project - 14/12/11 at 01:33 AM

Still the best looking nosecone I have seen, I even tried to replicate the look on my TR1KE nosecone :-)

Wish I had more time enjoying it :-(

I loved the colour so much I built my TR1KE the same colour scheme....

Got about 1/2 of our car, yesterday, via our agent, Mischa Bauman (in black t-shirt).

Ok, start the clock. Let's see how long THIS project takes.

Expect to hear more from me over the coming year...

Cheers,

Steve, in the NLs

Krismc - 24/7/12 at 06:12 PM

Interesting colour choice i like it, your agent seems tall in comparison to the chap at the rear of car(you?)

The colour is "simply" red. We will add a bunch of white to make a sort of Ayrton Senna tribute Lotus/Honda.
Oh, and regarding my height...Mischa was standing on the trailer, whereas I was on the garage floor...

Steve, in the NLs

Krismc - 25/7/12 at 06:23 AM

...ahh I didn't notice trailer. Colour wise I ment silver cage with red body was thinking it would look cool with black wheels.
