Surprised how cheap kit insurance is
Kerr205 - 3/12/13 at 11:27 AM

I've had my locost zx9 fora round 3years but have just got around to putting it on the road.
I called a couple of people but phoned Adrian Flux and got the following....

Zx9 locost
32years old with no points convictions etc etc
No no claims bonus
No club member
Declared everything
No alarm or immobiliser
Added my brother onto the policy
1500 miles per year
Fully comp

£79!!!

That's got to be cheap!

That is pretty cheap, I'm guessing it's because you only have enough mileage allowance to drive it in and out of the garage once a year

Is a low mileage but I work 6days a week and have two young children so If I do 1500miles per year I'll be chuffed, that's why I put my brother on.

That does sound cheap.

Thanks for posting I will call them next time I need to renew.

And you live where?

It always makes me chuckle when threads like this crop up and then you find the OP lives in deepest cornwall or the outer hebrides.

I'll be very impressed if that premium is for anywhere near a city. Greenlight undercut Flux by about £75 at my last renewal

You're right, I am in the fortunate position to live in Perthshire in Scotland where almost every road is perfect for my Locost.
Would be good if greenlight beat my quote by £75 and I got it for £4...... that would make me chuckle!

Great price considering how in the last few years they've startedloading BEC policies... they are aware it's a bike engine aren't they?

"they are aware it's a bike engine aren't they? "

I was going to ask that question, as my quote for my locost came out at £103 for a Cec, yet about £350 for a Bec

I only asked, as I was at one point a couple of years ago, going to swop to the darkside, with a 1500 Goldwing engine

Its funny I phoned a number of companies and started to doubt myself if I had said it was bec to adrian flux. I just called them back and spoke with two people. They both said that because its a kit car with only 899cc they know its a bec, one then said let me check just incase but then came back and said yes it was based on a bike engined car. Phew!

"with a 1500 Goldwing engine" I always thought the Goldwing was a car particularly the flat 6.
