Bruntingthorpe Sat 31st of May
PAUL FISHER - 22/5/08 at 11:31 AM

MK Sportscars have arranged another trackday at Bruntingthorpe on the 31/05/08,again £99 for the full day on track,no extra charge for extra drivers or passengers, which is great value,as the usual price for Bruntingthorpe if booked direct with "Big Thunder" is £99 + £25 for each extra driver + £5 Per extra passenger.
To book on call MK sportscars on 01709 816138.
These trackdays are open to all MK owners, and anyone looking to buy,or thinking of buying a MK,its a good day to meet and chat with other kitcar builders.
The supercharged GSXR1000 INDY SPEC-R will be there for FREE passenger rides.

For those who have not been to Bruntingthorpe before,it is a great track for anyone doing there 1st trackday, plenty of run off,and nothing much to run into, with the support of MK sportscars, and other MK owners help you out, they are a very relaxed trackday event, loads of banter a good fun day

I spoke to Phil at MK this morning he said he would welcome a few other types of 7 type kitcars along to the event,so if anyone else wishes to come along they can do so,just ring MK Sportscars and put your name on the list, this will ensure you pay just £99 on the day all in.

aka Keith - 22/5/08 at 11:43 AM

Is there any noise restrictions for the day? ahh just found it 98bd static, 87.5 drive by.

Any one in the Berkshire area with a semi-decent noise meter that I can use to test my car? or suggestions as to what I can use to get an indiciation.

zx9r c engine, standard bike exhaust.

PAUL FISHER - 22/5/08 at 12:06 PM

If you have a standard can,and not a race can,and standard airbox, you will be fine, they are concerned at Bruntingthorpe but the driveby noise meter is a long way from the track, and the static 98dbs they only do at 5000rpm,even on a bike engined car ,so everyone passes that
If you do get black flaged for noise,MK take along a few db killers and will fit one to your exhaust, but we have not had any problems yet.

aka Keith - 22/5/08 at 12:20 PM

Cheers Paul,

it is a standard bike can, but I have a sausage filter rather than std airbox. The filter sits under the bonnet bonnet, buldge if that makes any difference.

PAUL FISHER - 22/5/08 at 12:29 PM

If you are a bit noisey, they just tell you to throttle off around the corner were the noise meter is,they are helpfull shall we say

Would love to do one of these, but no chance with a sausage filter

Might have to get me fibreglass out and try and make a box some time!

Just noticed previous post - have people run with sausages there before successfully then? Did they actively ban anyone? I've got an exhaust insert I take to trackdays anyway, but my can is pretty quiet (standard GSXR road can) and all the baffle does is make it run like a bag of spanners. Not a lot I can do about induction noise though.

PAUL FISHER - 22/5/08 at 01:11 PM

You should be ok Simon if the filter is under the bonnet,Gaz with the GSXR1000 had his filter stuck out of the bonnet the first time we went, which was taking the wee a bit,but still he just got told to throttle off pass the noise meter, you can always tape the hole in the scoop up with 100mph tape,if its a problem,we have done 2 events there now,no one has been took off the track yet

eccsmk - 22/5/08 at 02:20 PM

aka Keith - 23/5/08 at 08:26 AM

I may look to burst by track cherry at this (depending on family and finances).

Is anyone else signed up yet?

Anyone got any tips for the day. Just done oil and plugs change. Anything else?

What about fuel, is see there is no fuel available onsite, can you leave the site during the day to get more?

Sorry, I have losts of questions, its 100 plus miles from the house, so want to try and understand all that is involved, before I commit.

PAUL FISHER - 23/5/08 at 09:51 AM

There's around 10 cars booked on up to now.
Fuel, you can either fill up before you come in,then nip out at lunch to fill up again, there's a petrol station,2 miles away,or bring a few cans with you.
The good thing with MK being there you don't need to bring any tools etc,MK will help out with trackday back up.
Don't forget driving licence,and helmet.
Its a real easy going trackday open pit lane, come on off track at any time, nice wide track, plenty of room to overtake, and drive as fast or slow as you like

Jon Ison - 30/5/08 at 06:13 AM

Sometimes don't you just hate kids ?

carpy - 30/5/08 at 10:17 AM

Is it OK to come even though you down own one of these cars yet? I'm aprospective buyer and I'd quite like a passenger ride in the new MK indy and to have a little nose about & a chat with some owners.

Get yourself along for a few free rides That's what these days are all about.

Phil

Jon Ison - 30/5/08 at 11:30 AM

Yup, you really do have a problem with kids sometimes..........

asl - 30/5/08 at 05:12 PM

Hi. Is there a fee for spectators? I was going to bring my MK up but I live 150miles away and couldn't organise a trailer in time so I just going to drive up in my boring car to have a look round and meet people. As I'm new to locost I want to have a nosey at the cars and get some ideas on modifications I can do. See you tomorrow. Nathan

JUD - 30/5/08 at 08:46 PM

I think it is £5 to sign on as a passenger - which they prefer rather than have people just loitering. There will be loads of cars there to blag a lift with.

Martin

JUD - 30/5/08 at 08:48 PM

Jon - a bit OT, did you make that avatar? If so what software did you use?

Martin

Jon Ison - 30/5/08 at 10:08 PM

PAUL FISHER - 1/6/08 at 11:19 AM

Another great day at Bruntingthorpe, although I had a few problems with my own car, thanks to Chris Mason, and "Mad Dave" for helping me out to remove the thermostat,to cure my overheating problem,on the zx10r a pig of a job, small hands essential, just got that done, only to have a rear brakeline rub through which led to a bit of a brown trouser moment, anyway, weather was great,a good turn out of cars, including a nice MNR,and "Grub",aka Phil in his Sprint R,drving it how it should be driven,I did not get a lot of video due to my problems, but will post up what I have.

PAUL FISHER - 1/6/08 at 06:48 PM

Here you go Chris, just for you,the best fun I had with chasing Phils Sprint R for a couple of laps,I did not have my camera fitted
but here's the best bit Ive got.

LOL its the only way I could get past him, cheat red mist thats what I blame,I was just having fun,I waiting for him to come through but he must have dabed his brakes,so I just kept going,it did not take him long to pass me again.its difficult to see on the video but he actually was the one who got black flagged, not me, you can see them waving it after he passed me for the 2nd time, but the black flag was for the 1st time he over took me,into the bend, which I thought was ok,I new he was there, all good fun

Must admit, when I watched it and the single seater suddenly appeared, I was a bit

PAUL FISHER - 1/6/08 at 09:33 PM

Chris Mason will be posting Phils video up,so it will be interesting to see it from his car, different track day companys have different rules,I think overtaking like that is ok if its by constent,he new I new he was there,he had been coming passed me all the way up that straight,I did not have to move off my line or throttle off,all makes for a more exciting day in my view
