Sorry - couldn;t quite get a sense of what it looks like... could you post a few more pics up?

I'm not in the market but it looks like a great car.

Is the rear diffuser home made? How and where did you fix it on underneath?

coozer - 31/5/08 at 08:31 PM

Curious

It cost more to build than I set out to spend and if I was being honest, I've never really got over it financially no matter how much I try to pay back on stuff with mortgage rises et al.

Also, I'm getting married in August and I just don't want to end this year in massive debt

Quick note to any potential buyer:

This car was my inspiration to going down the BEC route, it is very quick.

I think Steve ears still bleed due to my high pitch laughter from the passenger seat when he took me for a spin in this car.

Sad day, but the buyer will be a very happy chappy I'm sure!

I too can vouch for the car, great build with lots of suttle touches that give it the edge.

Great battery clamp too.........

Steve just cos I have winter plans don't mean you have to sell the dam car......... to keep up.

Kriss - 31/5/08 at 10:45 PM

fantastic looking car, really love it, best of luck with the sale.

If i am in the same position on a couple of weeks, then I may make some enquiries.

sure it will be gone way before though

I think I'm the only other person to have driven the car in anger. Honestly, this is one very sweet handling car. All of Steve's efforts have really paid off. In my view this would absolutely annihilate a standard Indy or similar. The improvements to the geometry and the very light weight make it a dream to steer.
If my MNR goes as well, I'll be very satisfied.

Good luck with the sale Mate.

carpy - 1/6/08 at 11:12 AM

Does this car get over road obstacles like speedbumps ok? Serious question as it looks really low.......

worX - 1/6/08 at 11:25 AM

I live in speed bump city!!!

It's absolutely fine mate. Obviously I've never tried to go over them at stupid speeds but at anything around inner town limits (30mph and below) it's never touched.

Obviously it won't go over them like an L200 but then that isn't really what you are asking

Steve

Steve, can I just ask (as it's not clear from the ad), do you have a thing for Carbon Fibre?

I love those bonnet side vents!

I have also had the pleasure of a ride in Steve's car and it is a well balanced, finely tuned machine.

Good luck with the sale mate, well worth every penny

I'm really liking this car but it's just a little overd my budget at the moment which is a real shame. If it's still not sold when I've saved enough then i'll be intereste.

Can I ask why you went to such extremes to save weight but then didn't go for something like an R1 engine from which the extra power would be like having saved even more weight?

Hope that makes sense......

worX - 2/6/08 at 06:13 AM

Well depending on which R1 engine you are referring to, I never felt that the increased cost of the install of the engine was justified.

Plus I also felt that if I were to require more power later on then an engine swap in an already sorted car and chassis isn't the end of the world.

Depending on where you buy it from, an R1 engine will cost you around £1200 Then you will be wanting an air filter or an airbox (£80 - £400) then a Power Commander (£260) and then if you were being perfectly honest with yourself the Power Commander really does need setting up to get the best from it, which would be £120 - £180)

The above prices are mostly based on when I made my engine choice nearly two years ago and not todays prices as I'm sure you'll be aware that they've changed a tad since then

So you could start to see an engine package that is easily getting on for £2000 and I just didn't have that sort of money when I went from my planning stages to actually buying my kit. (I then took a loan out for the car, so I could of done, but I'd obviously already made my engine choice!).

I'd also researched the engine choice a little bit first and found that for reliability, the Honda Engine and maybe more importantly the gearbox has a slightly better reputation for longevity in a Car install.

I bought my engine from a local (part time) breaker just 6 miles from my house. It came from a (relatively) low mileage tidy example of a bike, which I was able to see and check over to make sure it wasn't stolen etc. Also, because we were so local to each other and we did the deal "off" ebay, he gave me a bit of money off the price and I bought the engine and loom for £470.

I was also interested in Turboing the Blade engine at some point. (I've built up a full kit of Turbo parts over the last year, just haven't had time to build it on the car, although I have every part required!) I was going to get a second engine that I could build the turbo on. But I've also now found a Cosworth Piston'ed, overbored Blade engine that needs building up that will make really good power, but I haven't had time to build that up yet either!

I've been building a few cars for other people and been putting a lot of time into the getting the handling on my car as good as it could possibly be.

I'm sorry if I've not given you a perfect answer as to why not an R1, but it also has a lot to do with what you've had in your past and I've always had faith in my Honda products and it's proved to be very a very good choice in this car also!
