Chaps could do with some help upon replacing the clutch cover gasket easy job!!! And found a fair bit of metal floating round ie my clutch bucket yay! Ok so not that bad of a job, anyway can I upgrade this or just replace it with oe part and change the clutch?? Thanks for advice

ash_hammond - 4/7/14 at 06:00 AM

BEC, sorry I don't mess with that which craft buggary stuff.

CosKev3 - 4/7/14 at 07:04 AM

Pretty sure a standard basket will be ok, then you can add a uprated clutch and barnett springs if you want

Plenty of choice on ebay.

mac1fire - 2/8/14 at 10:46 PM

Carnt get the clutch pain to engage when clutch cover is fully on it just looks up I'll try get a pic tomorrow any hel would be amazing!!

mark chandler - 3/8/14 at 08:03 AM

It is a pain getting the pin to line up.

Pull the pin out as far as possible, then looking into the cover twiddle the arm to the fully open position then line up and push the cover on until it nearly home then use the clutch arm to pull the cover home, you can feel the tangs engage in the slot.

If the pin is a loose fit in the bearing I use a little blob of super glue to hold it in place on the inside of the bearing as sometimes the pin just gets shoved backwards whatever I seem to do.

Regards Mark

Good job you didn't buy them , they wouldn't fit.

Look for ET38 for a MAC#1.

mac1fire - 15/8/14 at 09:48 PM

Thanks for that mate

mac1fire - 6/2/15 at 04:04 PM

hi chaps after some help/info if you could please, after doing my clutch second hand basket and new plates worked ok! since then i done anglsea and was slipping alot after trying my best to adjust the tension on the cable i gave up toward the end of the day and try'd to make the most of it!! now im assuming that i just need to replace the clutch with a performance one? sigma seem to be the only people that produce this after market part at around £600 or am i jumping the gun? engine is a cbr 919 any ideas would be great as wanting to get a few trackdays sorted now

CosKev3 - 6/2/15 at 04:59 PM

Did you check thicknesses of all plates were within spec?
Also did you check total height of clutch pack was within spec?
What engine did you put in?

mac1fire - 6/2/15 at 05:14 PM

Hi mate it always been a 919 and newer clutch was out of 919 both identical inc plates

CosKev3 - 6/2/15 at 05:30 PM

But plates could be worn beyond spec, if you haven't checked they are within specs this could be the issue.

Meant to put 'oil' in the previous question!!!
If you've used fully synthetic it can cause clutch slip.

mac1fire - 7/2/15 at 11:59 AM

hi kev thanks for input mate ill try changing the oil from full to semi see if that helps

OliilO - 7/2/15 at 03:31 PM

I think quite a few people have had issues with fully synthetic.

I've been using a decent spec Castrol semi synthetic and not had any issues in my 954 blade engine. Standard plates and Barnett springs. Is probably the most used combination, so as Kev says, if the plates are in spec it shouldn't be that causing the issue.

mac1fire - 26/5/15 at 07:10 PM
