Fisher chassis suitable for V8 & T5 'box?

Hi folks,

I have a TVR AJP V8 engine in the garage that I'd like to shoehorn into a decent kit car chassis, but could do with some advice on where to start.

The TVR engine is very compact and light, if a RV8 will fit then this will, it's smaller and weighs a good deal less.

Clearly I want to create a beast - but one that can be tamed! Therefore I need something which can be made to handle well.

Having has a Fisher Fury in the past I was keen to use one of them, or a Stuart Taylor chassis of some sort as I have confidence that the geometry works properly and I suspect that an open bodied car wouldn't really be so suitable for a very high powered car.

So, can anyone give me any advice on what I can - or can't - use?

Finally, is it still possible to buy new Fisher chassis or have they disappeared?

Fury chassis are still available from http://furysportscars.co.uk/ .
The chassis would have to be altered to take a t5 box as its designed for a type 9 which is fairly narrow.

That's great, thanks for the steer.
I'll ping them an email and see if they can help.

Last time I spoke to Steve, he was currently modifying one to take a S2000 engine and box, and the box is wide on that one (6 speed). I think he'll be keen to help you.

Just one other thing...

What diff options are available in the Fury which are likely to put up with 400bhp and 375 lbs/ft of torque for a while?

That sounds promising, those engines and boxes are avaialble for reasonable money now and would really suit a Fisher. I wonder what diff he was planning on using?

A Rover V8 with an LT77 definately fits, I've got one I'm in the process of swapping my SD1 3.5 V8 for a 4.3 from a Griffith. My chassis is different to the usual 4pot/sewing machine one as the tunnel is quite a bit wider and the footwells are narrower to allow for the bellhousing. I have an Atlas live axle from a V6 Capri, but I'm not near your power/torque figures.

Regards,
Dave

Ahh, glad to see I'm not the only V8 nut. That 4.3 will be lovely, it was the sweetest RV8 that TVR made IMHO.

I think there is a Sylva Phoenix out there with an AJP V8, though I don't have any details. You might be able to track the owner down if you ask on the owners' club forum at www.jpsc-online.co.uk
