what determines reg of kit car

thought they all went on Q plates unless you used X% of donor car

how do you get it on an 08 plate?

You can get a new reg if all the parts are New with the exeption of 1 component which can be refurbished beware you will have to provide all relevent receipts and invoices.

so all new parts, does that include all suspension hubs etc new engine the lot?

how much is one component? seems grey area to me

its not that gray it's more black and white one major recon part the rest new or just build it with all new parts keep your recipts and hay presto one new plate o8 at the moment...

For a new reg' all major components must be new with the exception of one which must be reconditioned as new.

The form your supplied with to declare the parts lists, Chassis, Engine , Transmission, Axles, Streering, Suspension, Body. It requires manufacturer, ID number and reciept for each.

You also have to sign a declaration of newness.

but the downside of a new registration will be the emissions and gordys evil tax...

Got an 03 reg and no emissions test. Pre 95 engine recon'd to new

I wanted a Q plate too. And I got it

The regs on when you do and don't get a Q plate, age related or new plate are pretty clear but most of the local DVLA offices are a bit ditsy about knowing when to apply which rule....

Ive got an 08 plate but the emmisions is based on the engine being made in Feb 1994. Recon engine and everything else new

i quite like the idea of being one of the first '09-ers but i probably couldn't afford to recon an engine as well as all new bits for everything else...
