Type 9 gearbox selection problem (selector fork?)

Hi all!

Problem with me T9 gearbox gear selection

I did a trackday in my car recently and the car initially became hard to select second gear (grinding), and then I lost 2nd gear all together, and other gears were OK, then I lost all gears and it was stuck in 4th gear. Everything was running fine and I possibly foolishly ran the rest of the day in 4th only as the track was suitable!

So the gear stick end all seems to work fine. I have taken off the inspection panel of the gearbox and I dont have much hands on experience of gearboxes, so it feels to me like something was coming loose and then fell off (spring, locating pin etc). Can anyone help from this picture/video

Thanks for any help

Looks like your selector fork is broken.

The brass bit should be joined as per the photo below

In summary you need a new box or a rebuild.

Thanks for the reply, I did think that, but I couldn't see where they join together/have snapped. And by looking for spare parts to buy, the two halfs of the forks come as separate parts so are joined together? Or am I on the wrong end of the stick?

Actually looking again, the bottom fork as per my phone the locating slot has snapped off and the other one is fine and they just locate together?

Correct, they locate together, but the top one is missing a section.

Great, thank massively, and I am assuming from research that's a 3rd / 4th selector fork? Only place I can find them they are £40 which isn't bad.

1st/2nd selector is out of position and something looks odd with 2nd gear.

The fork is just out of position it would seem, I have just relocated it as per this bad photo

Can anyone just double confirm to me that the fork that is broken (ones closest to the engine) is the 3rd/4th selector fork?
