Zetec Plenum/Fuel Rail

Having a look at my fuel rail/ manifold, am I correct in saying that the small hose that comes off of te bottom of the Zetec fuel pressure regulator needs to be fed into the inlet manifold?

Description
Description

If this is right then I would like to put it on the bottom of the plenum as you can see in the picture above but not completely sure what the thread is, an M12 bolt (1.75 pitch) goes in 1 1/2 threads and goes tight so not sure if it is some other thread size, has anyone else used the Kitspares plenum and knows what sixze this thread is?

Also, anyone have a good source of threaded barbs that would suit this, the hose is 5mm.

Thanks

The vacuum tube on the regulator can be left open to atmosphete.

IIRC (please correct me if wrong) the vacuum in te plenum reduces at low revs which increases slightly the fuel pressure at idle to richen it up a bit. If you are running a programmable ecu it may be better to not connect as this will keep a constant fuel pressure and reduce a variable in the mapping. Conversely if you are keeping the ford ecu may be better to attach.

The threaded hole is meant for the air temperature sender, you will need this for your ecu to run correctly. If you have the sensor then you can measure the thread, if a 12mm nearly fits it may be a m12 fine thread or possibly some sort of 12mm or 1/2" pipe thread.

Hope this help.

I'm using the Ford ECU and the MAF from a Mondeo so was thinking if it was right to use this tapping for the vacuum side of the fuel regulator.

I don't have the sensor so can't measure the thread, I tried with a M12 bolt which is 1.75 pitch but that goes tight after 1 1/2 threads. I was thinking it may be a pipe thread but not sure what size is clsoe to a M12?

If you are using the ford ecu I am sure you will need an air temp sensor othetwise cold starting may be an issue, I assume ypu are also using the lambda sensor in the exhaust to keep the closed loop running. From what I remember when I ran a 2.0l silvertop on a ford ecu (iv) I needed matching maf, injector rail and ecu from the same car plus air temp (in the plnum), water temp (in thermostat housing) and crank sensor as a minimum.

Quick Google came up with this 3/8 ntp

Possibly confirmed by this

Hope this helps.

Hmm, I thought the MAF had the Air temp sensor in it and so I wouldnt need a separate one. I am using the MAF, ECU Lamda sensor, water temp and crank sensors but dont remember seeing another separate connector for the Air Temp?

Black top air temp sensor is in the maf, silver top is separate.

I connected the fuel reg vacuum to the plenum as per oem and yep I would run a m12 tap through (if that's the size) and make a barb to fit.

I'm pretty sure I have the blacktop MAF, a black plastic housing and 5pin plug? I also have a Ali one too that you gave me wasa but presume that is a silvertop one?

Thanks for correting me, only seen the silver top ones where the MAF and air temp are separate, glad you are now sorted.
