Cat Rack Mods
Hi there, New to this forum, so just a Little hello before my first question (Hello)
Right I built a Tiger supercat now sva'd and fully abusing it,
I had a small moment at Curborough the other week and bent my rack...
Now the problem is; I want to fit a quick rack and as the Cat used a Cortina rack
I cant find one anywhere, Rcs are no longer and I have been searching for a while now.
So do you know where I can get one? or have one made?
or
is it possible to cut and shut an escort quick rack into a cortina housing?
or has anyone managed to fit another rack ie escort, or sierra ect to a cat?
I have played with an escort rack an it looks too short and the pinion is in the wrong orientation to fit.
Your help and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Not really familiar with the Cat chassis BUT I would guess the centre part of the Cortina rack is actually way too broad, this will give massive bump
steer.
With the Locost even the Escort rack is too broad between the rack end ball joints.
The best solution is use an Escort Mk2 rack and fit extension pieces as sold by most Locost parts suppliers. You all need to alter the chassis for
the Escort rack mounting which ISTR are closer together.
Escort MK2 and Cortina Mk3-5 racks are very similar apart from the width so perhaps when you same the pinnion on the Escort rack has the wrong
orientation you were looking at an Escort M3-5 rack or a LHD rack.
