Nose cone fixing

I know there is a thread about fastenings just beeen posted about this, but would just like to highlight the knowledge required.

How have you lot done it?

For the bottom fixing I bent a 6" length, 2 " wide of ali to ninety degrees, rivited it to the bottom of the nosecone, then rivenutted it to the front of the bottom front rail.

As for the top, I used Dnuz fasterners though the point where the overlap is for the bonnet meets the side rail. This is then covered up when the bonnet is fitted.

All nice and neat and strong and easy to remove. I have seen others use bonnet catches to replace the Dnuz, fitting them on the inside of the nosecone.

I put up some pics tomorrow.

We (me and my brother) decided on rivnuts and allen bolts, pic are on my new and improved website

We uses 2 on either side at the top and then 2 at the bottom (a total of 6), I'll be honest, it's a pain in the arse but hopefully, once built there will be little nosecone removal.

I welded 2 small (3" x 2" pieces of flat metal to the bottom front rail. The front of the nose just hooks under it. I have the dzus ready for the back mounts, but might go for the simpler nut'n'bolt . .

I fitted Dzus fasteners to the back of the nose cone but wasnt happy with the location of them. I then removed the centre part leaving just the flange attached and fitted a rivnut to the bracket , i then bolted through with a dome headed 6mm bolt on each side.

Jasper

What size/code/range no etc of Dzus is that you've used on the top mount?

Cheers

No idea I'm afraid, just went into my local shop (Namrics in Hove) and bought them off the shelf. Worth giving them a call, they only had the one type in stock.

The fixings at the rear of the nosecone on most cars don't need to be too substantial as they are held down by the front of the bonnet.

yours, Pete.
