Quick question. Am I right that for a VW Polo 9n you don't need a memory saver for the radio code when changing the battery? It's the original head unit which I figure is coded to the ECU/immobiliser?

Ta.

I'm sure they need a code it's the later ones that are ok

Went for it anyway as I had a spare battery in the garage and should make some effort to turn up at work tomorrow.

Turns out it didn't need the code. It came up with "Learn" on the display and then started working 10 seconds later. Phew!

VW can "unlock" the radios if you lose the code - costs about £40 IIRC, but takes 1/2 hr and works fine.

Don't ask me how I know this
