[Poll!] Where have you put your battery?
jps - 1/10/17 at 11:52 AM

So, in a 7 type car, where did it go?

I'm thinking of either the passenger footwell or the n/s boot floor on the basis the scuttle is rather high for such an amount of weight.

I'm leaning towards footwell as at least the weight stays between the 'axles' that way...

Mine is on top of the metal plate in front of the scuttle, passenger side. Maybe it's a big, heavy object that's high compared with the CofG - but I don't care as I don't drive this car competitively. It is a very convenient place to put it.

On the scuttle but it's only a little bike battery, when I reconfigure the car I expect it will move lower down, possible in the passenger footwell, I am competitive.

In front of the scuttle passenger side.

My passenger normally weighs less than I do.

Come to think of it, everyone weighs less than I do.

Got mine similar to where Westfield put them,in front of engine behind radiator in a box.

One thing to check if you are going to put it in the passenger footwell is leg room for any potential passengers

Mine uses the MX5 wiring loom so I put the battery where Mazda do as that's where the wires go. It's mounted n/s of the diff behind the seat bulkhead so is almost between the axles - I also used the battery that came with the MX5

on top of the scuttle but then its a light weight Lithium pack Also gives the shortest possible wire lengths, the longer the wire the thicker it needs to be and the more it weighs

On top of an Aluminium panel, in front of the scuttle.

I did consider putting it elsewhere (passenger foot well), but TBH it was so much easier to place it where it went I did that. It wasn't a competition car! Access and wiring was simple and it worked fine for me.

Had it been a competition car I may well have gone for the passenger foot well:

More or less central fore to aft
Mass as low as possible
No long runs of high Amperage cables
Competition cars don't usually carry passengers

I've got it on behind the engine centrally on the scuttle

Mines a small bike battery. I have it just a little behind but centrally under the steering rack. I wanted a clean look to the scuttle shelf and the wiring just kind of dictated the position too.

I just used a lithium battery. Weights pretty much nothing so I'm not really worried about where the weight is.

Really interesting range of responses - wish i'd put "Somewhere else - please say where" as 9 people have ended up with their battery 'elsewhere' - but some of these locations will remain a mystery / closely guarded secret :-D

Thanks to everyone who has voted :-D

Westfield put the battery on the S2000 engine cars under the steering rack
