Rev counter - plug lead

Hi again all,

I have a Koso DB02-r. I was advised that the best way to get a rev counter reading was to wrap the signal cable around the spark plug lead. The signal wire is a length of co-ax and the shield wire finishes with a ring to allow you to earth it.

My question is should I strip back the co-ax shielding where I wind it around the plug lead? (not sure how I would actually do that but thats another issue!!)

I have tried it 'as is' - fuel isn't connected so only cranking on starter motor - and am not getting a signal - would you expect one just turning on the starter motor?

Thanks

JC

I would expect a signal, since the plug is firing, but doubt a rev counter will go down to under 100 rpm

Thanks - hope that is the case
