Sierra Brake Fluid switch
Willie - 29/4/03 at 12:05 PM

Hi all,

Yet another question here...on a Sierra (Later version, 5dr 1600 Pinto) the brake fluid resevoir cap has three wires going to it. I used the cap on my locost, to keep the brake fluid warning light. Are the three connections Power, Light and Switch, or Power, Light and Earth? Can't see it would need an earth at the switch.

Any help welcomed.

according to the haynes manual in front of me for an 87-89 sierra the 'low brake fluid sensor' goes to:
brown -earth
brown/yellow - instrument cluster
brown/green - handbrake warning switch

does this make sense to anyone?

Ned, thanks a bucket load. Makes sense to me. It works the opposite way than what I though. Rather than power coming to the sensor, then to the switches, it's the opposite. The power goes to warning light first, then the sensor. So when senor is activated it earths and circuit is completed and light comes on. Obviously it earths with the push button test switch too.

Thanks again.

Willie - away to wire his brake fluid thingy
