52 plate 1.8 MX5

After a very long running battle with random misfire and engine lights, followed by another engine light for 02 sensor due to misfire i think (fixed with some Vpower and a hard blatt), I parked up the wife's MX5 for a week and now it refuses to start at all 😬 turns over fine, can't see spark or detect fuel, checked all fuses. There are no OBD codes shown.

I suspect it might be the Cam Position Sensor and just wondered what the collective think before I buy a new one.

IGN OFF white/red wire +12v, blk/blue 0v grey/blue 0v

IGN ON white/red wire +12v, blk/blue 0v grey/blue 5v

Assuming the grey/blue is signal i would expect to see an on off voltage on the grey/blue wire when I pass a large chunk of metal past the sensor? But it is permanent 5v on DC multimeter range.

Is my theory above correct and the sensor has broken?

Checked the Crank sensor?

Hi,

Only had a visual inspection of the crank sensor so far, it seems to be 1-2mm ish from a small tab that rotates on the pulley.

Not sure how to test this sensor, but will follow up with some research.
