Could it be i dicky coil

The problem i now have is the car runs ok for about a mile then it dies and will not start. The coil at this time is very hot is this normal or could my problem lie with some thing else if so have any of you got an idea as to where to look.
Thanks Colin D

Quite possible m8.
Try another one. Is it a ballast coil, or standard 12v? Feeding 12v to a (normally) standard Ford coil will burn it out in next to no time....

HTH Stu.

Dont just build it.....make it!

As stu said, sounds like a ballasted coil
on a un ballastad wiring loom
if its anything like my first long journey
crawley sussex to castle donnington, i broke down four times (2up + 2down)
most embarrasing on the motorway!!
my problem was my home made wiring loom did not contain the pink wire that ford put in so after a while the coil cooked
i would then wait 30 miniutes and be on my way again

after several more brake downs i sussed it, and stuck an un ballasted coil in

the only other reason could be a vaccum in the fuel tank but i would imagine that this would take more than a mile
