Spitfire Sender Unit

Hi Guys,

I am trying to measure the resistance of a Spitfire tank sender unit. BTY that’s Triumph not Supermarine to all the comedians out there! It’s a Smiths sender unit and, I need to know what the resistance is at full and at empty to see if it’s compatible with the ETB fuel gauge. Not knowing anything about things electrical, I have used a multimeter across both terminals, and every combination of terminal & body that you can think of but cannot get a sensible stable reading. Thinking that the one I had was u/s, I went and bought another, but have achieved the same result. They are either both knackered or I’m doing something wrong.

Anyone had any dealings with ETB or Greengauges?

Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

Regards, Ian.
