Lathe - reading Material
Im about to purchase a small workshop lathe, dont need one just always wanted one.
Anyone got a decent lathe operating book they want to sell ? I was 16 and at school when I last played with a lathe.

There is only one thing you need to know with machine tools. Learn how to switch it off before you switch it on!
Seriously, just learn about speeds and feeds and the rest will come to you provided you've used one in the past.

Start off nice and basic and all the projects make usefull tool / jigs to allow you to do more technical jobs.

i read a book called 'the amateur lathe', which was an excellent source of information, best practice etc.
Beware! Bourettes is binfectious.

That would be "The Amateurs Lathe" By Lawrence H Sparey, great little book.

Well ive bought it - too late now. Single phase, 2 chucks, screw cutting, milling attachment, load of parts with it , evrything turns over nice &
smooth.
Needs a clean and some oil.
