Which Alternator for Blacktop Zetec

Which alternator is ideal for the blacktop Zetec? How would it be mounted? Does anyone have any plans/drawing for the bracketry needed?

I've seen a full setup on KitSpares but £225 is a tad expensive.

I brought just the brackets from GBS and used an alternator that I had, a little bit of fettling needed to make the alternator fit but works great, this is the alternator I'm using.

Hope that helps

Andy

Any ideas what that alternator is off AndyW?

Where did you fit the stock alternator splitrivet? in the usual under the inlet spot?

Yes but raised it, made a bracket on the opposite side and fitted an idler, the alternator belt runs above the flat upper section of the cam belt cover which I whittled down a bit and fitted a larger belt, cut the bottom rear ear off of the alternator and a tension strap to the lower front to adjust belt. Bit late now but I'll take some pics for you tommorrow.
Cheers,
Bob

I just typed the part number into a search LRA00949 and it came up with a Subaru Sumo Bus, what ever one of those are. I got it from Carl Knight who posts on here, Im sure he has something to do with industrial generators so is probably off some sort of gen.

Sorry cant be any more help than that!

I've got a Denso tractor alternator. The brackets are home made and very basic, but work fine.

Thanks for the pics Bob, as they say they are worth a thousand words

Is there a part number or similar for the idler you fitted?

It came with the with the engine cant remember where it was, had a bit of scrap 10mm knocking about so drilled and shaped it and fitted a couple of washers behind it to space it out, if youve bought a complete engine no doubt you have it. Give me a shout and I'll take the bits off and take a snap so you can see the basic shape if it helps.
Cheers,
Bob
