Fisher Fury or Sylva Fury

Having just purchased a Fury and having always referred to them as Fisher Fury's I need some understanding of the history/timeframe of this mark.
I am of course aware that Jeremy was a prolific designer but sold on his masterpieces to concentrate on the next one.
So was it a Sylvia first? when did it become Fisher? is there a preferred name?

Looks like pre 1994 - Jeremy Philips therefore e Sylva
1994 mark fisher took over
And if my memory serves me right Steve took it on around 7 years ago and operates from the same premises as bgh geartech.

Could be miles out with that last date though.

Also there are three (at least) rear axle designs - escort English axle, macferson strut type Sierra independent and double wishbone independent (Sierra and occasionally freelancer)

Upper rocking arms were also changes from solid to tubular at some time in the mid 2000's.

Bodywork was spider or doors with classic, big bulge and Le Mans bonnets as a minimum.

The fury has been owned in the sequence

Sylva
Fisher
Kit Car Workshop
BGH Geartech
Fury Sportscars

As to dates that gets a little more fuzzy

It is certainly an early model with Escort axle held on with leading and trailing links and a Panard rod, front has Escort track control arm and modified/cut anti roll bar as the rear link.
V5 says registered 1995 & 1660cc
It has the low bonnet with a small bulge for the GT Weber
Other details I'm yet to uncover but plans are coalescing in my head around a Zetec and Type 9

Striker IV clubman and early pheonix might often be interchanged a d the rear is similar to Pheonix but Fisher Fury they aren't and I've never hear then called that except by mistake. Fury pre-dates Pheonix.

Fisher Fury comes in 3 body types; Original with doors, Spider with no doors and wider rear arches, Full Screen Spider same as Spider but with screen.

Company transfered from KCW to BGH in 2007 I think.

how do you call this car? most people call it phoenix. the differnce between a fisher fury is that the body on a slyva is waisted, where as the fisher-body is more straight. front and rear are more or less the same (fisher/ sylva)
fisher is calling this car fury as well as the one with windscreen and doors.

This is a Striker MkIV clubmans, or a Phoenix. It looks like the Triumph powered car that Jeremy campaigned in the 750 kit cars, whcih would explain why the number plate has been blanked.......

Fury and Phoenix have different chassis. From the picture I'd say that was a Phoenix but hard to be 100% from pictures e(ven when posted twice). Clues being the narrower waist and interior rear panel coming all the way upto the rear tub (Fury have a boot there). But Phonix body sections on a Fury chassis aren'tunknown. Do the front rockers go over or under the top chassis rail?

may1991, on q-plate, outboard suspension = striker-clubman, but without the spoiler-bonnet:

and here a 1992 model on q-plate( phoenix?):

The Sylva Fury and the Fisher Fury are pretty much the same. Neither of them use the Striker chassis which the MkIV Clubman or the later Phoenix use. The Striker/MkIV Clubman (Fury type rear bodywork) and Phoenix are around 2" narrower across the chassis at the front of the seats.

My understanding is that the name Phoenix comes from the company who did the bodywork for the later, curvy, body (like my car) and wasn't used on the MKIV Clubman which has the fury type body but the wasted middle of the later Phoenix. But I doubt if anyone really knows (apart from Jeremy and he has probable forgotten).

Finally the V5 arrives with some clues, chassis number says FF****** and car is Registered as Make: Fisher sports cars
So I'm happy to call it a Fisher Fury and move on to the winter development, just get it fit for the road, run it for a bit, tidy as I go and think about engine and gearbox swap.

To answer part of the OP question Mark Fisher told me this yesterday;

We (Mark Fisher) bought the (rights to the) Sylva Fury in 1993 we were agents from about 1991 and responsible for a lot of the Fury sales from its launch in 1991/2. Sold it in 2006. Produced about 650 cars in that time!

I believe Mark kept a small book with brief details on every chassis he sold so it's possible he can give you more details about the original order of your car
