Headlight question.

For Iva purposes. Does the dipped beam stay on when you activate full beam ? Or does dipped switch off when you activate full

it can do either, unless it's gas discharge, when dip usually has to stay on with beam

secn 25 headlamps rs 9
quote:
Gas Discharge and LED Headlamps

9. Must be accompanied by evidence of compliance with the technical requirements if not compliant with the following:
. is "E" or "e" marked
. dipped beam remains on when main beam is on (gas discharge only)
. is fitted with a wash system (see Notes 2 and 4)
. is fitted with an automatic headlamp self levelling system or self levelling suspension (see Note 3)

edit, though be careful with normal halogen headlights as they are likely to overhead if both filaments are on for any significant time

With a twin filament you'd only have one on at a time. Both together will overheat and blow the bulbs pretty quick. Only time you'd nomally have both is if you use the headlight flash (normally wired to main) while the dip is on.

As far as IVA is concerned, there's no requirement one way or the other as far as I'm aware.
