ETB speedo recallibration - URGENT!!

Hi Guys,

Anyone know how to recallibrate an ETB speedo, the one with a digital mileometer? I understand that you can adjust it with the rubber button on the dial, but I'll be buggered if i can work out how to do it!

This is the only outstanding thing to do before my retest no Tuesday.

Also, i cannot get it to a rolling road before this date (no trailer, etc), but can do it driving to the test centre.

Thanks very much,

Mark

Haven't used one myself but a quick search came up with this from a kit car article.

"I set the Speedo into calibration mode and pushed the button at the start of the mile and again at the end of the mile and hey presto job done."

If you can figure out how to get into calibration mode you've cracked it! Just use a measured mile!

Thats what my VDO speedo instructions say too,you get 3 different ways to adjust on these and they are as follows.
With engine and ign off push black button on speedo face and hold in,then switch on ign.
where the digital mileometer reads i get 3 options every 3 seconds
1/ reads AUtOOL which is the measured mile method.

2/ reads PULSE which means enter a known pulse/disatancs ratio.

3/reads AdJUSt which is for fine tuning.

its really long winded are you going to stoneleigh as i can photo copy and take you the whole instruction manual, ofcourse thats if its any good being a different speedo.

to check it out release button on AUtOOL and it then should read bUttOn.
Start the vehicle and then drive a measured mile as you start and exactly as you start press the button once and it should read StArt,drive at a consant speed(beware no speed will come up on dial, this is good)exactly at the end of the measured mile press the button again.
the determined pulse/distance will or should now be displayed somewhere between 500 and 399990,the calibration is complete if the display changes to total or partial distance display.

repeat if display flashes FOO.

If you need to fine adjust its finger on button then ign on then finger off button when it reads AdJUSt and display alternates between UP and dn (up/down)
every 3 seconds,on rolling road or road press to adjust acordingly.

PHEW thats half hour of my life i wont get back,i hope it bloody works.

why not ring ETB and ask them......or check it there is anything on the net with google.

My VDO unit can be calibrated 3 ways.

Set at 60 mph, set to measure a certain amount of pulses at a give speed, and over a mesured distance.

Thanks guys, I owe you all a drink. I will phone the SVA station and see if they'll let me do the changes there.

Bob, these instructions are great. I'll give them a go, then it'll be a call to ETB. Fraid I'm not at Stoneleigh.

ATB,

Mark
