Quaif Reverse Box Oil Breather
RickRick - 29/6/09 at 11:57 AM

Just got my car on the road, took it for first drive, did about 15 miles, and it's sprayed a small amount of oil out from the quaife reverse box's breather.
I think i've made a solution that should take care of it, but what has everyone else done?

A well know chassis lubrication system

I thought I'd replace the cap/breather with 90 degree bend and fit a hose that goes to a catch tank. Does anyone know what tread the cap has?

We have drilled the cap and fitted a rubber hose to ours first. It did throw oil out on the first track day, so we quickly plugged the rubber hose into a coke bottle that cought the oil. It was fine.
So as a more permanent solution we have secured a catch tank at the end of the rubber hose. The tank is fitted so that the oil can flow back in the box when not being driven.
But I have to add that we have not driven the car since this latest modification...

Put a catch tank on mine with tube to it.
No oil has appeard in tank, I assume it's going up the pipe and back into the box when stationary.

Polished catch tank looks good though
