Injector O-rings - anything special?
smac - 5/5/13 at 01:18 PM

Traced a fuel leak to a slightly damaged O ring on the good lady's car. Are they in any way special? Can I just source a same size O ring and fit it? Cant see anyone but halfords been open over the bank holiday weekend so not much choice. Anyone know?

Possibly be a standard size, but material may be an issue. The wrong material could see it swell up in contact with fuel, or go rock hard (and not work as an o ring).

They are special and laughably expensive

They are 14.5mm OD for Ford and most others. Material is Viton.

O rings are specified by bore and cross section, correct ones are 7.5mm (7.52) bore and 3.5mm (3.53) section.

Expensive!? Not mine.
I bought a set for my Bosch injectors and they were 1$ each at the parts shop.
Unlikely you could find standard O rings due to size alone Injector seals are wee and very thick.. then there is the suitable material issue.
