bowood14 - 15/7/10 at 07:54 PM

Insured my MK Indy Fireblade with Sureterm last year £127 no changes this year but quoted £279 WTF is that all about now will have to spend lots of time getting quotes

I take it that's the auto generated renewal. If so sounds about right. Phone them up and pretend to be a new customer and you'll get a much better quote without them even realising you already have a policy...

flux quoted me £500 for my saab

Last year was £350

Went elsewhere (try quidco) ended up with an RAC policy for £300 ish.

Rang flux to cancel and the cheeky gits tried to pricematch the RAC.

Try getting a quote and seeing what your current insueres say

They all take the michael.

they always put it up after the first year. I never stay with insurance companies for more than a year

jase380 - 15/7/10 at 08:07 PM

seems a bit steep, insured my indy zx10 with them in may for 152 quid !!

bowood14 - 15/7/10 at 08:21 PM

It wasn't an automated renewal I called them today.

Similar situation here.

My IndyBlade is insured with Sureterm, last year I paid £127, this year the renewal came through at £291.

I have looked around and Footman James wanted £366, Frank Pickles £345, Flux £355 so I guessed Sureterm wasn't. so bad after all. I also completed a quote request for 2gether insurance but got no feedback.

Had a call from Sureterm following up on renewal notice and they acknowleged the increase. They said they could not get as low as last year but did go down to £244. Since this was lower than other quotes, I decided to renew.

I guess it must be a double wammy of insurance going up in general and insurers becoming wise of BEC's.

our tintop was more this year too - seems to be a general problem this year.

I don't beleive for one minute that the financial services in this country are trying to line there own pockets at our expence though - oh no.

I have had some issues in the past week with renewals.

I am insured with Flux on my 7 and my BMW.

Month ago the 7 came up for renewal; they tried putting about £100. On that, I got it reduced down to nearly what it was last year. Happy.

BMW comes up this month, quoted me about £400. seemed a bit exsp so I went to Tesco Price Compare website and Admiral came in £116.00 cheaper. Went back to Flux and they matched it as near as dam it.

So it’s worth a quick ring around and goes on the web.

The thing I don’t understand is why it always goes up, they said you would not want to be a young driver, I said I’m not so why is mine going up. They shoot themselves in the foot, if they put £30.00 on it each year most people would accept it, now we all spout off we can get them to price match and they lose out all round.

A Flux last year £250.00 for my MK Blade, this year with 2gether £125.00 result for the same cover.

I've done okay then.

Privilige insured my A3 2.0 TDI last year and it cost me £500.

Changed cars midway through the term and paid the increase (£75) so I was expecting a renewal of approx £700.

Just got the renewal notice through still with Privilige for £386 fuly comp on an A5 3.0 TDI Sport.

Downside is I was thinking of getting a Bluefin remap (290Bhp/580Nm) and they no longer cover engine upgrades.

My tintop's insurance went up 25% this year - but I did get £20 of M&S vouchers for renewing straight away.

Myke 2463 - 15/7/10 at 09:13 PM

My insurance went down for the same cover with 2gether this year by £10.

bi22le - 15/7/10 at 10:34 PM

£130 last year with Footman James, then I fitted a new larger engine (50bhp more...) and the premium dropped to £117

Mine went down by £1.
I'm happy.
I would (have and do ) accept small increases on insurance etc in line with inflation, more than that is clearly taking the wee so send em packing
