How many of us have MX5s?

Just curious as in the last 5 months or so loads of us, myself included have bought or are buying MX5s.

Had mine about a month and its not a bad car, well
put together and it can be left out/driven in the rain.
It handles very well but just needs a bit more go.

I'd love a sticker like that on the car.

A guy at work has "Hooning is not a crime" on his car and I wanted to get one that said hairdressing isn't a crime. Not normally into stickers but as the car has dents already it wouldn't bother me.

I quite like them but would have a decent 90's hot hatch in preference every day.

I am *actually looking* for one at the moment (that'll shock what few friends I have left).
SWMBO's (not a hairdresser) MK1 Mundaneo is coming up for disposal (MoT date)... we can't afford a great deal these days, so looking at replacing the Mundaneo with old MX5 as a single do-it-all car (work/track/etc.)
There are so many around for sale, particularly the early cars (1.6) at an affordable outlay (£500-1000).... it's only the usual doubts over the motivations of the sellers that inhibit me. Thing is, I hear continually how reliable these things are, my doubts are becoming a lesser bearing.

OK, must get back to bathroom and my male grooming products...

There was only one decent 90s hot hatch, and you'd pay significantly more for it than for an MX5

Two Mk1's fell into my lap within 2 weeks of each other late last year at the right price so it seemed rude not to.....
The resto one is a reference point and spares source for the road car (fortunately both are Classic Red).
The road car is the original Moss demonstrator on which they developed their supercharger kit.
I've added a Torsen diff and some Bilstein shocks and springs which came up on fleabay.
With 161 at the wheels and weighing in at c.850kg it's one of the best cars I've ever driven (repeating my quote about my Mk1 Golf GTi on "The Car's the Star".
Build quality is typically Japanese and as above any excuse to drop the hood and take it out for a spin or blat.
So far we've done three Autosolos (huge fun) and SWMBO and I did France and Italy storming up the passes and frightening Porkers along the way.

Cheers, Pewe10 (i.e. 2x5's - gettit?)

PS I have a "delivery mileage only" Mini supercharger for sale if anyone's interested - yours for £240 i.e. what I paid for it.
U2U me if interested - will be going on fleabay next month so let me know in the next couple of weeks.

Morcus, I've got a vinyl cutter if you want one making up for beer tokens? I've always thought of he MX5 as a hairdressers car, but then I owned an MGF VVC many years ago so who am I to make judgement! lol there is a guy at a client I go into has a supercharged MX5 with some trick suspension, I think it's running 260ish which I imagine is fun! A drive of the could quite easily change my opinion!!!
