Don't understand, do you throw the can of worms at the rabbit, or use it as bait?

You are getting rabbits mixed up with something else there I think, that's an entirely different kettle of fish. What you really need is an airgun forum Steve.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

So, just to be clear:

You use a can of worms as bait to attract a rabbit then throw a kettle of fish at it?

I think an air rifle would be easier, to be honest.

you may be better applying for an FAC and something like a .22 rim
2 reasons come straight to mind,

more humane kill and longer range (anything sub 12ft lb will only really ensure a humane shot at up to 30 yards)

all depends on your backstop and ground etc

Time for a change!

Alas, nothing very interesting hidden in mine.

Unless you count those "Grandpa" slippers, which I refused to wear!

Work-in-Progress: Changed to Zetec + T9. Still trying!!

Absolutely agree with this. .22 rim is the way to go. £400 will get you certified, cabinet fitted and a decent starters rig with ammo.

Yes, it's a fiddle and a bit more expensive (mind you, a decent air rifle can cost £200+), but anything other than a close-up headshot with an air rifle is just cruel on the bunnies.

Surreal thread, so gotta have a post!

Sensible bit first:

I have a Weihrauch Carbine. They do high power air rifles. I brought it out here 11 years ago, so bought it maybe 14 years back in Colchester. New, with tele-sight, it was £400 plus back then. It has a silencer on it so as not to scare away the bunnies. It's good for ratting out here. The bunnies are too 'wick' and out of range in a trice. An air rifle's not the right tool for rabbits, although I've made kills with head shots at 35 metres, it's bad news if you just wing 'em.

You can get compressed air ones (Weihrauch and others) which are wickedly powerful, but I believe you need a FAC for the really tasty ones.

Best bet is a 'garden gun' (410) if you don't want to/can't use a 12 bore. We used to have brilliant sport riding around disued airfields in a pickup, with 2 guns on the back lamping the bunnies. We had a freezer full of the beggars. (Unlike hare, you can't hang 'em. They need gutting and cleaning whilst fresh).

Just listened to Moody Blues, 'Dear Diary:
'
"Dear diary it's been quite a nice day, so I went out and strolled about looking at the shops. Didn't really see anything I liked, so didn't buy anything. On the way home I posted a letter.
Somebody expoded an 'H'-bomb today; but it wasn't anybody I knew."
