Compression Tester.....

Struggling to get hold of a compression tester and don't really want to buy one.

Is there anybody local (ish) who has a compression tester and would be willing to lend it out for a day or so?

Phil

I have an adaptor I made from a 10mm plug, it extends the adaptor 170mm. You are welcome to borrow it.

Is it a 14mm - 10mm adapter? If so, could you U2U me your address and I'll arrange a suitable time to collect.

Cheers

Yes, as photo. It's a 10mm plug and !8mm adaptor joined with a length of tubing araldited together. I have used it twice with no problem. Just needs tightening finger tight.

I think I used an adapter from a colortune kit. Not 100% sure.
It wasn't expensive (not worth posting around).

I discovered because of the larger volume before the one way valve a long adaptor gives lower readings, ie the adaptor volume lowers the compression ratio.

This is true bt, but I found it OK for comparative readings.

Screwfix sell them for 20 quid, with 3 or 4 different adaptors, i've used it on my ZX10R engine a few times.

Yest the aren't expensive ISTR mine was under £10 but only 14mm & 18mm and that was about 4 years ago but allowing VAT increase and inflation since then £20 on eBay should still get a decent one with a selection adaptors.
