new driver

just looking for quotes for my son and to add him to my wifes fiat 500 looking at £2500 or to insure his own fiat sciecento £4200.
How the hell is he supposed to afford that?
Any recomendations?

We were told it's a down to statistics and that some cars didn't have enough people of the age group driving them to weight them. In the end we bought a baby 4WD after the quotes for the usual suspects (Corsa, Fiesta) came in around those 2K+ figures. In the end fully comp was £900. which was better..

Yep, the more obscure the better. I also found repmobiles very cheap to insure when I was younger, so look at Vectra's and Mondeo's. I'm surprised anyone can insure the typical family hatchback, I paid so much more for my 1.6 Astra than I did for my V6 Vectra!
