2005 MX5 mk2.5 Icon
Sad times, I'm seriously moving towards sale of my lovely Mx5 so that I stop enjoying it and have a little more time and space to properly
finish off my kit car.
1.8 VVT engine
I need to get some more photos of it during the light but for the time being I have some here:
photos
It's got about 136,000 miles on the clock and has run like clockwork throughout my ownership.
It had a new clutch, rear discs and rear pads in March 2016 fitted by Skuzzle Motorsport in Winchester (an Mx5 specialist) as I didn't have
space to do the clutch myself and was using it daily at the time and I already had the bits for the brakes on hand with a view to fitting them before
the next MOT.
MOT is only until the end of April but has always passed cleanly in my ownership and I'll happily run it through another MOT at my cost for the
buyer.
Important bits for you:
Bodywork great for a car of its age apart from a small hole in the plastic rear bumper where an ex-girlfriend had a trivial coming-together in it with
an elderly gentleman as they both reversed out of spaces in the supermarket. His metal bumper had a sharp bit which caught my car's bumper.
Very annoying and I've since lost touch with the ex who was going to pay my costs of the repair and I've run out of time to fix this
myself. I've been quoted £300 by the local bodywork place to fix and respray although he also said a good job could be done with a heat gun at
home - I don't have one; I've gone down the kit car route because I'm happy with mechanical stuff but have no
space/tools/experience/interest in bodywork!
All mechanicals in good order and car regularly serviced. This is the VVT engine and it drives great. All electrics etc work as they should.
I filled the sills and anything else I could with rust preventative shortly after I bought it in September 2013,
Interior in great condition,
full leather heated seats,
electric and heated wing mirrors,
factory wind break with rear speakers,
factory fog/driving lights,
cd player.
I'm located in Purley, Surrey and I'm looking for £2,500 less say £350 for the bumper (you could probably just replace the whole
bumper for that!). So £2,150 would take it off my hands
Any interest in the car, please drop me a line before I come to my senses and sell my saloon instead, I'll miss this car!
Bombproof, cheap, fun motoring.

I've added a picture of the damaged bumper to the google folder: bumper damage
Obviously the car is dirty which probably makes it look worse, but you can see the damage and that it's a relatively small part of the plastic
bumper which is affected. Irritating yes, but not the end of the world. If the car doesn't get snapped up quickly I will get this sorted later
in the year but I don't have time at the moment. If it's a big issue for someone interested in the car then I would consider a deal in
which I sort this out prior to sale.
Hoping for some good weather at the weekend so I can give it a wash it's been waiting for the last couple of weeks of rain!

I stripped exactly one of these when I was going to build an Exocet. Bumper went for £50. In fact here's one Mazda MX5 MK2
MK2.5 Silver Rear Bumper £30.00 Collection Only Bargain
I can tell you the MX5 build quality is excellent!

Good spot, I'll try keep an eye out for one myself until it sells. I don't really want to put the time into replacing the bumper as I
want to work on the kit! but suspect it will be much easier to sell if I have that sorted out.
Thanks

I've managed to locate a decent replacement bumper and if it turns up tomorrow I'll fit it over the weekend and sort out a proper
autotrader/ebay advert.
In the mean-time though, if anyone fancies picking one of these up for the summer as a more useable alternative to their kit (the roof is fantastic
and they stay lovely and warm!) I'd be prepared to do a deal for a forum member if it saves me the hassle of advertising more seriously as time
is at a as it is for us all!
With the bumper replaced and brand new MOT I'd let it go for £2,000 to a forum member. Once I have to pay for some adverts and sit in front of
the computer long enough to make those happen I'll be putting the price back up to £2,250.
Cheers,
Phill

Having thoroughly enjoyed it the last few weeks as spring has sprung unfortunately the time has come to actually sell the thing.
Advertised on ebay now:

All ready to go now with brand new rainsport 3's on the back earlier this week and 12 month's MOT issued today.
And thanks to an over enthusiastic MOT tester a brand new pair of wiper blades (he got a telling off for unilaterally fitting these as the car had
already passed the MOT and there was nothing flipping wrong with the ones on there but so be it... )!
