Removing BMW Automatic Gearbox

Hi all,

I’ve broken an E36 328i auto as a donor for my E30. I need to split the engine and box now, but for some reason I forgot to drop the atf before I dropped the engine and box. I don’t know much about autos and I’m concerned that once I’ve unbolted the TC from the drive plate and unbolted the bell housing I’m somehow going to end up with a workshop flooded with ATF if the torque converter falls off!

Any advice? Is this likely to happen or have I misunderstood?

Normally the TCstays on the gearbox and stops any leak , you will get some leakage from the oil cooler but the pipes can be capped. When the TCis undone just give it a little push towards the gearbox
