Adding transparency to an image?
Morning all,
I'd like to add transparency to my avatar image.
I have Microsoft Paint and Serif PhotPlus X5.
Is this possible and if so can anyone point me in the right direction please?
Yhanks,
Nick

Hi computid,
tried saving the image, but it's in PNG format which this forum doesnt seem to accept into the photo archive.
Possibly a niave question, but is there a way of translating it into a GIF format?
Thanks,
Nick

You will find an 'export as' function in GIMP's File menu - it will give you a list of file formats to pick from, and you should
find JPG in there somewhere.

Yeah, but JPG doesn't support transparency which was the point of this thread.
No experience with GIMP but you should be able to export to GIF with transparency. GIF limited to 256 colours max but that'll not be an issue
for your avatar.

I used the Serif Photoplus X5 software I already have. This let me open the PNG and export as a GIF with transparency. Seems to have worked OK and
achieved the cleaner avatar image I was after.
