Nodiz install nearly there.
simonrh - 13/2/15 at 09:20 PM

On the home straight with nodiz install.

Decided to run extra harness for all the options from day 1 and then hook them up as and when I have time.

Decided to take my time and try and make a tidy job of it.

Hi, looks like a nice job still building my zetec got Nodiz as well hope it will be as neat as yours when done.

Very neat but the ECU is likely to suffer from being too close to the coil pack/HT leads

simonrh - 14/2/15 at 08:40 AM

Well that's fucked that then hasn't it

Sorry to give you bad news.

simonrh - 14/2/15 at 09:35 AM

That's OK, it was supposed to be a learning experience I guess. Basically going to have to cut the entire loom and extend it to move the nodiz.
Bit crushing!

jeffw - 14/2/15 at 09:57 AM

Move the coil pack a little, doesn't have to be much. Mine is about 6-8" away.

simonrh - 14/2/15 at 10:39 AM

Coilpack would definitely be easier BUT I struggled to find anywhere decent for it in the first place. I don't want it over on the carb / distributor side because access over there isn't great as it is..... And there is £50 of custom cut ignition leads to suit where it is now!
My aim is (was) to make everything more accessible as I change the car so it isn't a fight to get to.
I will go and stare at it later and see if I can find some inspiration.
Thanks for the input from everyone

Looking at the picture, could you not use the last p clip as a pivot point and rotate the whole thing 90degrees? Should give you the distance you need?

jeffw - 14/2/15 at 01:58 PM

This, turn it 90 deg and closer to the fibreglass....job done.

simonrh - 14/2/15 at 09:41 PM

I reckon I can make the turn 90 degrees option work. I will need to make up a standoff and cut out a few of the bits of the loom but it shouldn't look too bad.
Thanks again.

Many years ago the police in Cambridge took delivery of new Volvo 144s that suffered with a severe loss of power when using the police radio . When Swedish engineers checked the cars they found the radios were interfering with the cars ECUs . The cure was to wrap the ECUs with Bacofoil, it may be possible to screen yours but getting it to look good may be difficult?

Chris_Xtreme - 14/2/15 at 11:37 PM

have you tried it ? does it have problems, might be worth a go before chopping stuff up.

wylliezx9r - 15/2/15 at 10:01 AM

I'd try it first. There's a good chance you won't have any problems at all.

simonrh - 15/2/15 at 08:34 PM

Looks rough as balls at the moment but this seems to be the favourite option. No stress on cabling. Minimum chopping. Maximum distance from coilpack.
Need to make a bracket to hold it.

It only flipping runs!
Eyeballed timing in with delicate screwdriver down #1 plug hole and counted 9 teeth round on timing wheel.
Got Bluetooth coms running with our tablet.
Hooked up coil pack with newly extended wiring loom.
Off she went.
No sensors except crank sensor hooked up yet and just running 2d Base map

Awesome work

simonrh - 22/2/15 at 09:24 PM

You too Chris, saw your video yesterday.
I figure after seeing what you have on your plate with that, I need to man up and shut up!

whitestu - 22/2/15 at 09:41 PM

If you end up needing to move the coil pack could you find somewhere on the head to mount a Coil pack bracket / holder from a Zetec?
