V8 rush rear tyre choice
Bigboystoys - 18/6/19 at 08:25 PM

Evening all, looking for some new rear tyres for my 4.6 v8 rush.
I'm currently running toyo t1r (205-40-17) on the front which still have plenty of life and t1 s on the rear which need changing.
I was hoping to find t1 r for the rear in the correct size of 245 40 17 but dont seem to be able to find them. I'm now just wondering if I go for the 4 replaced as a set for the r 888r medium as the car is only ever used in dry? Advice please thanks sam

I have a pair of Toyo R1R's 255/40/17 new, still in their packaging that I no longer need.

Hard to get hold of the R1Rs now.

other tyre brands still have quite a few 245/40 R17's - it those of us with the wide rear option on 15" and 16" dax's that have the bigger problem

some folk reckoned the 245 was a bit too wide anyway (saying that some other folk do run 255's)
a TR1 225/50 R17 is pretty close on the diameter - it could be worth a try
or maybe use the 245/45 R17 or 235/45 R17 and adjust the speedo to match / check the clearance on your rear arches

Toyo no longer list the 245/40x17 T1R, the only pattern they do in that size is PX-Sport.

They are in stock, (I work at a Toyo dealership), so you should be able to order from any Toyo dealer.

Thanks for all the replies, I have decided I'm going for the toyo r888r but in a 17" they only do them in either a 235 or 255 so I need to work out what will fit on my image rim. I have to be careful as I'm running hi spec rear calipers and as a result run a 5mm hub spacer to keep the wheel clear of the face of the caliper. This in turn means the tyre does get pretty close to the arch even on a 245.
Thanks sam
