Oil for 2005 R1

Chaps

What grade oil is recommended for this motor please?

Any recommendations? I'm assuming its running fully synthetic (no clutch slip experienced) but just not sure of what to buy for this engine. Any good suppliers? Anyone got an OEM part number for the oil filter too please? Where do you buy these from?

Final question is how much oil does it take and do you overfill slightly?

Thanks

I've used...

Valvoline 4t (syn). OK and used for 3 years. Oil level used to come on untill hot and if ragged and looked frothy in the window.
Swapped to Silkolene Comp4 (ester based syn). Good for 3 year with less oil light issue untill getting old.
Just swapped to Motul 300v (double ester syn) on recommendation of my engine builder. Not been in long enough to comment but (a) it's rumored to be in most bikes on the motoGP and Super-bike grids (despite their sponsorship deals) if you believe that sort of stuff and (b) it's fecking expensive!

Level/over-fill is normally 1/2 to 2/3 up the glass hot and idling. Thats for inline engines though so maybe not the same for you transverse motor. Used to take about 4.5lts (before I put an oil cooler and pipe work on).

Opie oils have both Silkolene and Motul

Ive only ever used Silkolene Comp4 in mine from new. 5500miles over 5 years on the road, and an oil change every year

Also use Silkolene Comp4 synthetic and overfill to half way up the sight glass when idling. I get mine off flea bay, about £40 inc a filter.
