Caliper position - all wrong?

I've had a quick look at some photos online and think that perhaps i've managed the double whammy of bearing carrier pointing the wrong way (if I swap my uprights over I can get it pointing 90deg anti-clockwise) and caliper on the wrong side???

(Constructive!) criticism positively welcomed!

Sorry about the photo rotation...

it is very common that calipers have to be fitted 'upside down' on kit cars.
while they will work, it means removing them and turning them 'the right way up' to bleed them

Thanks - i'm aiming for "common" on the basis it must be 'effective'! Is 'upside down' 180deg from what I have now then?

Yeah the Sierra calipers normally go to the rear of car slightly.

Swap the bleed nipple and brake pipe over once you get them mounted correctly

I am struggling to see what is 'wrong' with the OP setup. I have only ever really looked at such detail on Strikers but mine looks to be positioned very similar to that and works well. Providing the caliper clears the wheels, chassis and all suspension during the full range of suspension movement then what is wrong with that position?

Can you swap the uprights over and put the callipers on so the hand brake cable sweeps back towards the rear, although your current arrangement may work perfectly fine for the hydraulic brakes you might have problems routing the hand brake cable.

It's a kit car,so is anything right?

As you say if it all works and you can mount the handbrake cable properly they can go anywhere really!

I would guess looking at the pic of caliper fitted there is no room for the cable to enter the calipers, hence the OP starting this thread?

I haven't got that far yet but routing the handbrake cables is on my mind...

It may be "wrong", but to have the calipers closer to the vehicle COG improves turning ability.
Even though the bleed nipple is pointing down, I wonder if one could bleed the caliper loosening the hose-caliper connection if it is the highest point on the caliper. Has anyone done that?

Provided they share the same thread pattern/Connection type this could be done, on calipers fitted with banjo connectors, this may not be that easy.

Beware of what you wish.. for it may come true....

Yeah they do,I wouldn't have said it if I hadn't done it myself!

If that's your nearside caliper I think that looks like the setup for me. The brackets I blindly added to the chassis would allow me to run the brake lines as you have, and if the handbrake cables work for you like that I am sure they will for me too!
