looking good dan, just the mudguard stays and headlight mounts needing some rubber from where i sit

JAG - 16/8/05 at 03:21 PM

It looks very nice.

Only thought; do the spokes on the steering wheel have a big enough radius on the edges? Something like 2.5mm rad' is required.

ned - 16/8/05 at 03:25 PM

is that a dolomite warning cluster in the centre dash binacle?

looking good dan...

Ned.

indykid - 16/8/05 at 03:50 PM

i only came up with wheel spokes, and mudguard stays, but headlamp mounts shold be easy enough to cover.

oh, and pull that vinyl tighter on the dash corner!

nice job
tom

what are the bits on the bonnet? are the radiused/covered

Berwyn - 16/8/05 at 05:34 PM

Looking good,
Same as mentioned above though about the wheel. Mine passed the radius test, but the screws failed ! I see you are using the same i did (socket heads?) and he failed it on that. Always safest to fir a stock ford wheel and change afty !
Good luck !

scutter - 16/8/05 at 05:50 PM

Cheers Folks,

The warning rose is Triumph, but it's from a Stag as it's got a left and right indicator warning bulb.

The vents on the bonnet are covered in 4mm*7mm edge trim as they project more than 5mm above the surface of the bonnet.

Would i be able to get away with bodge taping foam onto the steering wheel (would it look permanent), the edges are radiused as you look at the wheel so about 4-5mm, the mounting bolts are domed cap head screws, maybe covering will remove all these worries. Would love to fit a Sierra wheel but then I can't get in!!.

The headlamp mounts and bolts are waiting to be covered post lamp alignment.

Finally which edges are folk talking about in the wing stays?

ATB Dan.

mine failed on the radius of the sockets in the screw! crazy I know ! With regards to foam'ing it up, well its got to look permanent or else they will fail it. Tell you what, shed a few pounds on the atkins and fit a sierra wheel !, got one in the garage if you need one, the one i had to fit for the test

scutter - 16/8/05 at 06:05 PM

Shed a few pounds that would just leave the skin

Kinda a bad design flaw on my part as i made the column mount with the seat in place then realised that it sits on 25mm spacers so the adjustment on the runners can work.

I'll make it look permanent.

Look very good

Cant quite make out the fuel hose clips in the pics, there not jubilee are they ?

Adrian

scutter - 16/8/05 at 07:49 PM

Yes they are Jubilee clips, but the hoses have heatshrink around them to even out the pressure and prevent damage to the hose.

ATB Dan.

ady8077 - 16/8/05 at 08:01 PM

You sure thats ok for sva ? Also if you've used electrical heatshrink i doubt it petrol proof, might be worth putting an offcut in a jar with a bit of petrol to see ?

Adrian

Hi Dan, Looking good
From here I can see1 Battery terminal uncovered, Seat belt anchorages, the top bolts (thread sticking through lower part of mount) needs covering...bit of rubber will do it. Lower ball joints - retaining bolts, I can't see anything covering lower nut and thread.
HTH Fozzie

Dan, just noticed that, on the upper wishbone, rear mounting bolt, (looking from rear, forward) should really have a nut cover on.

Another question...is that engine likley to go through the emissions on DCOE's (or what ever the dellorto eqiv' are called!)?

Andy

Yup agreed, a bit of a concern. Dan, any chance of getting it to a friendly MOT place? even if it just to check the emissions?

Steering Wheel Spokes.
Front of Rear View Mirror sharp edges on base?
Headlight bar radii to bottom of headlight thread.
Cycle wing stays

Nice build - colour is lovely!

block - 17/8/05 at 09:50 AM

Have you checked on the minimum height of the fog/reverse light, has to be so far from the ground. Im sure there will be a thread on here about it. I could well be wrong but worth a look. Looking nice though, good job mate.

scutter - 17/8/05 at 01:59 PM

Cool, Fog light is 50mm over the lower limit.

The seatbelt threads under the bar already have covers on them,

I missed the upper suspension rear bolt, I'll greenline tape it as i can't get a nut in the gap.

God only knows about ther emissions, hopefully they'll let me tweek it there.

must find some foam for the steering wheel soon.

Cheers Dan.

ady8077 - 17/8/05 at 04:22 PM

If you dont find any foam and your wheels a mountney you could buy my old center pad ?

No Probs, it has a recess on the back so it just clips on
