Newbie

Hello all,

New on the scene, a friend and I purchased a Locost 7 last week after many months of trawling the internet!

We currently have a 1.3 XFlow engine with Weber carbs and Escort running gear.

Will get some pictures up later, Clutch cable snapped 3 days after getting her, so waiting for a replacement and spare to arrive at the moment! along with a spare Fan Belt - just in case!

What spares do you keep in your car too?

I'm in South Manchester, If anyone is local with a Locost or similar it'd be great to meet up! another friend is currently half way through rebuilding a Westfield Narrow body as well.

Ben

Hi Ben welcome,

Loads of knowledgable folk on here. Helped me build my car!!

I don't carry any spares with me just my recovery card! If it breaks I'll get it recovered.

When I had my mk1 fiesta as a daily driver (very similar engine) I used to keep an alternator belt, set of points and a rotor arm - the rest of the tool kit was just the minimum amount of spanners / screwdrivers, a small cheap 1/4" drive socket set along with insulating tape, duck tape and cable ties

I only had 2 minor breakdowns with that car (not bad for a 24 year old daily driver ) - and none of my tools helped me at all

so a recovery card is really all you need (but thinks like points and rotor arms are probably a good idea as the AA/RAC van is not likely to keep them these days )
