And, in the end, I bought a Sony A6000 mirror-less camera. It has what I need - interchangeable lenses, telescope adaptors if I need them, a wired remote shutter (as well as an IR remote) - and good reviews from just about everyone. I've always liked the colour rendition in Sony cameras, so that's a bonus. I can also use Canon and Nikon lenses with adaptors (with some limitations).

The good points are its functionality and small size, the not-so-good points are the limited choice of dedicated Sony lenses and the heavy battery consumption due to the always-on screen/viewfinder; I have already ordered 2 extra batteries and an external charger! Mine came with the general-purpose kit zoom lens, but that will be replaced with a better prime lens once I work out which focal length I use the most.

The very best point was a cashback offer of £100 from Sony, which runs until around 21st January 2018 - 20% off a new camera is always worth looking at...
